8. Witness: Your muse walks in on mine killing someone
His hands were slick with blood, but it paled in comparison to the salty water drowning his face and neck. Somewhere between the what felt like endless strikes and his heart crying out, he had heard the screams. Heard them, but never fully registered. All he knew for those few precious moments was that he was angry. But then, at this point when wasn’t he?
Alisx had spent so much of his life angry. He’d thought by now he would have at least let go of past grievances, but he just couldn’t.
The others had told him to quit it, stay away from an old ghost. He’d only stir up trouble for himself and everyone else. He’d certainly tried to listen.
But he hadn’t been face to face with Tanner since.. before. And seeing him again only caused those memories to come back and Alisx simply didn’t have control over himself.
He collapsed onto his knees next to the bloody man only half conscious and fumbled for the blade some inches away.
“You deserve this.” He panted out, curling his fingers around the hilt of the blade. He believed it entirely, but his heart still lurched- or maybe it was the door opening- as he threw his hand back and brought it forward again, plunging it into the other’s chest.
He might not’ve heard anything above his own trembling, sobbing and heart racing if the otherwise silent house had not echoed the creak from the floorboards.
Alisx’s head snapped upward, umber eyes wide as they settled on the figure who walked in, into this nightmare.
“B..” He swallowed, hard. “Help me.”
