I was asked by a friend to try and identify the Baboon Spiders he caught wild and is keeping on display at the Snake Park here in Victoria Falls. With a little coaxing, this little one came out. Now, I've always specialised in Southern African Theraphosidae of the Sub-family Harpactirinae (Baboon Spiders) and I was pretty sure that I knew what this one was; but regardless, I checked using some documents of mine and discovered I was right. Ceratogyrus dolichocephalus, the Cranial Horned Baboon Spider. These little gems aren't seen in the UK pet trade often, and they are endemic to Zimbabwe (only found here).
