When I was young, I had the fire department visit me one Christmas and bring me a doll. The doll was nearly as tall as me and 'walked' with you. I've told Kaileen, my daughter, this story before, telling her that fire fighters not only save lives, but they help Santa. Today we stopped by Walmart for some last minute items. When we got there, the fire department was set up and only had one gift that had been donated so far by that point. Kaileen and I agreed that this was my chance to return the favor I was given all those years ago. As we were shopping I found a walk with me doll! Just like what I had received all those years ago! I haven't seen one of those dolls in more than 20 years, so I decided that would be our donation... I mean really, what are the odds? Then, Kaileen grabbed a bag of candy bars and told me she would like to get them for the fire fighters who were standing out in the cold, taking toy donations to help the children.  She gives me hope that we can be the change, and shows how much kindness can make a difference. We may not be rich in money...but we are in kindness, compassion, and hope. This kid, I tell you. When I grow up I want to be just like her. <3
