I know how all the characters in phighting work now! any tips? :3
Took me a hot second but, here's my observations:
Katana is best as a point tank when she's the only tank, but if there's a Banhammer or Sword on the team who's taking care of point, she can fill the role of a support assassin, taking out low health enemies who are escaping or handling one side of point while the other tank handles the other side. Her M2 (the chargeable slash attack) is best used as a one tap to trigger Looming Misfortune's explosion (which also gives shield), although a fully charged M2 is a good mobility tool for chasing down stragglers, though not for escaping. You can play more aggressive if you have a good healer focusing on you. Your Q is also ideal for grabbing people since it reaches far, so use that when chasing low health stragglers too.
Banhammer is best in Conquer as a point bully; use her to force people off of point but don't chase them away from it; your job is to sit your ass down and protect it with your life. This remains true even if you have a healer, your sworn duty is to guard point and bully everyone away from it. You can play less aggressively if a Katana, Sword, or Biograft is on your team; people who know the strategy with those will handle any stragglers you leave behind.
Biograft is an assassin and an assassin only; you have some really good mobility tools but are very much a glass cannon. Overdrive should ONLY be used when you're at full health, have a good healer, and point is being overrun/there's an enemy tank and yours is dead. Again, your job as Biograft is targeted assassinations against the enemy's healer first and foremost, then their tank, then any stragglers your tank is leaving you to pick off. Biograft cannot handle being on point alone, even with a healer. You're a support and an assassin.
Skateboard is a mosquito who should be used to harass anyone and everyone, especially healers and stragglers. You don't have much damage but the M2 slam and the Phinisher are good for stunning people to let you or your team kill. Otherwise, play aggressive yet evasive. Don't be afraid to run away after taking some damage to bother someone else. Ideally, you're the support who's harassing the enemy so they can't heal while your assassin or ranged teammates get them killed.
Subspace is all about chip damage and area denial, so make sure you're able to support point and your tank by slowly chipping away at the enemy's heal. The E ability is good for chasing down stragglers and getting them really low. However, Subspace is not an assassin. He cannot attack fast enough nor survive enough to focus on enemies, assuming said enemies are good at the game. His mobility options take a while to recharge and he's too slow to escape once he's isolated. Stay close to your team (especially your healer) and focus on the enemy supports and tanks. Your phinisher should be used wherever the enemy is densest if you can, or beneath point in maps that have multiple levels. I cannot overstate how annoyingly easy it is to get caught in Sub's phinisher if it's below the point like on Teapot Observatory or Doomspire.
Vine Staff is best summarized as "Gardening, really really violent gardening." She's quite tanky so she can stay on point with a Katana, Sword, or Banhammer fine, and she can handle herself against solo phighters with lower health, but she should never be left alone. Your job is to shoot enemies with your machine gun-staff-plant and make new plants where you go, especially on walls. I don't know the Vine Staff meta too well, so try to experiment with her if you can. Just remember to stick close to your tanks and shoot everything that moves, especially tanky enemies; they give plenty of seeds and healing for those around your plants.
Be sure to experiment though!! I'm not the best out there and I still die plenty of times, so don't hesitate to bend the rules a little or try out new things. Just remember to help your supports
