“Kaito,” Kokichi said, hands in his pockets, eyebrow raised, “I'm meant to be the crazy one in this relationship.”

“Not in a relationship!” Kaito reminded him, face covered in sweat and dirt, “Grab a shovel, help me dig!”

“No.” Kokichi said, “Also, you should stop digging, this isn’t good for your lung.”

“What? This is great for my lungs!” Kaito huffed, his cheeks red as he panted, his eyes ever so slightly blown out as he paused his shoveling to grin at Kokichi, “There’s no ailment that fresh air and good exercise can’t help improve! Help me shovel, it’ll make you taller!”

“Why on earth would I want to be taller, it’s way easier to pickpocket at crotch level. Ryoma missed his calling.” Kokichi snickered, pleased with his own joke… before sighing, “Seriously, Kaito, what the fuck though. Did you just decide you hate our field?”

“I’m making a fish… a…. hold on….” Kaito panted, taking another break as he leaned on his shoulder, shivering a little. Despite his insistence the digging was good for him, Kokichi could see little white spots starting to dot Kaito’s otherwise healthy, tan skin. Paling as he clearly fought off a case of lightheadness…before shakily pulling a thumbs up, “Okay… feeling good. Feeling good! I’m making a fish pond!”

“Fun!” Kokichi said brightly, “It’d be more fun if we had fish!”

“Har-har-har, we do, smartass,” Kaito said, smirking at Kokichi, “I found them in the warehouse. The monokubs have been taking care of them this whole time. I figure, well, we have the fish anyway! Let’s let bygones be bygones and make them a part of the family!”

“Ooooh, okay, so we do have fish… what do you mean ‘bygones be bygones’?” Kokichi asked, tilting his head curiously. “Do we have a vendetta against fish?”

“Well, probably not them personally. But the other piranhas did eat Ryoma, to be fair.”

“…” Kokichi blinked, “Kaito, are you saying you found more piranhas?”

“Yeah man, though, there might be more fish hidden somewhere. We missed these guys for so long, after all. That warehouse feels endless, seriously.” Kaito said, going back to digging.

“Kaito, do you not see an issue with making a hole in our perfectly nice field, that you like to run around on, and filling it with proven man-eating fish?”

“It’ll add excitement to our lives!” Kaito grinned.

“Nooooo? It literally just adds a dangerous obstacle course to your daily jogs,” Kokichi said, warily watching as Kaito huffed again, taking another break, his skin paling again. “What if you passed out and fell in?”

“That’s… That’s so specific.” Kaito panted, rolling his eyes, “That’s not gonna happen. Since when were you such a worry-wort?”

“Literally always, all the time, forever.” Kokichi said, twitching, “Usually I get to be more fun about it though, because I’m not usually playing off a birdbrain who wants to keep razer teeth for pets!”
