the flash was brief, but it was enough to make David second guess himself. was this even a good idea? what if his father took it as an assault and sent his spandex supers after him...? to be fair, he wouldn’t be the slightest bit surprised if that were the case, but just as he was about to pull back, he felt a presence join him. David was seated in a broken down RV, the very retro wallpaper peeled and yellowed with age. the windows were long gone and destroyed, so a cool Colorado breeze trailed through, shifting the ratty curtains. at the counter by the sink were a few boxes of take-out from some local Chinese restaurant, with the fried rice still steaming and untouched yet. evidently David was holed up here for the meantime, or more likely just stopped here for some privacy and so he could eat in peace.. the apparent couch he was sitting on, had a very new looking towel laid over it, and a blue button-up shirt lazily discarded on the table.
he stared at his father for a moment, his anger still there. Abandonment, resentment and the slightest ping of fear joined it.
“Dad..” he started and looked down. congratulations David, now what?
“it’s been’a while.” he murmured. his tone was soft, not really weak or submissive, but resolved... face to- well, as much of his fathers face that he could be bothered to send Davids way. there was a moment of quiet from him... even the voices in his head seemed to be dwarved by the situation. David really wasn’t well, that much was known from the start, but... eventually green and blue eyes drifted back up to Xavier and Hallers brow fell into a scowl. “yeh finally got time fer me dont’cha?” he asked, his voice cracked just a little. Seeing Charles again should have been a far happier moment for him, right? In theory anyways.. but right now, he was upset... at his father, at being abandoned, at not being able to get the help he so clearly needed.
