👌🏼 #TheOnlineQuality at Balclis Auctions. -This week will be dedicated to 5 highlighted lots from our online auctions. - 📌The first one is this splendid oil by Juan Ribalta (1597-1628), representing Saint Thomas. The light, the brushstroke or the palette use have with any doubts an influence from the italian old masters. This influence probably came from his father, Francisco Ribalta, who was an important painter too and collaborator (Ribalta's father studied the paintings of Escorial Monastery, specially Sebastiano del Piombo works). In the paternal workshop, he approached to his sober and naturalistic style that characterized him all his life. A nice example of this characteristics can be found in "Saint John the Evangelist" masterpiece, actually located in the Prado Museum, and also in the oil presented today. 🏛Considered one of the best baroque painters in Spain, we can find works in Prado Museum (@museoprado), MNAC (Catalonia National Museum of Art @museunacional), the Fine Arts Museum of Bilbao or the Fine Arts Museum of Valencia (@gvamubav ). - 📌Just two days to auction this masterpiece.
