#DailyCloseup! 🔍Today we present a strange object called "Inrō", used in Japan to holding small things. Created in the Edo period (1603-1867), it was a very practical element because traditional Japanese robes lacked pockets. The different containers (usually 6), called "sagemono", were created to carry specialized contents as tobacco, pipes, writing brush or ink, depending on its size. The 6 boxes were held together by a cord and in the end they had a "netsuke" (miniature sculpture), to suspend the "Inrō" in a safe way. We can find in different museums around the world pieces like that one, as in the @metmuseum , usually richly made by wood, ivory, bone, and lacquer. - 📌Find this amazing lot in our Online Auction!
