“Stop talking, Jack. You’re not that clever, not as sharp as you like to think. You talked to me about keystones? Bullshit. You’re a sad, pathetic killer with delusions of grandeur.”
AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Call him out! Drag him!
Theo's the only character who gets more than one Interlude, and he gets three? I mean, one broken up into two pieces, but still.
“I… I don’t really know. It’s supposed to be ten times easier to get powers if you’re second generation. But we don’t have research on third generations yet. It’s only pretty recently that we had the first third-generation cape on record. The baby in Toronto.”
I've heard some people really didn't like that Ward reveals that Vicky's second generation trigger wasn't just from a basketball foul. I think I mentioned it back then when it came up in Arc 4. How it basically reveals that the second gen being easier thing isn't actually true, per se.
And I do kind of like the idea that second gen capes trigger easier, because it kind of makes sense with the purpose of shards, right?
But I would say that this might be one of those times, loathe as I am to admit it, where the fandom kind of missed the point in Worm itself.
Because one, the reveal in Arc 4 is hardly from an unbiased source, and Regent is himself a 2nd Gen, so he knows it's not quite so simple as '2nd gen capes trigger easier' (though he may be so psychologically burnt out he doesn't think his trigger was that bad? I don't remember what his trigger was anymore), and,
Two, well, you have this.
Theo is third Gen one one side, 2nd gen on the other, has been surrounded by capes most of his life, and hasn't had that 'easy' trigger.
Not a ton of data points, but the Worm fandom has done more with less.
I hate to say it, but... I think the Ward Haters had it wrong this time.
(Besides, I really like the expanded details of Vicky's trigger, one of the revelations from Ward I actually like)

I made a post a long time ago called “what’s the point of Theo?” about how I thought Theo was boring and how I thought he could be replaced with Sophia.
I’d like to clarify, if you like Theo please tell me why. I really don’t understand his inclusion in the story. It feels so out of place.
His main character trait is that he’s a normal dude despite coming from a family of Nazis. His trauma is based around being uncomfortable with his body but the story didn’t make it feel super important so I don’t know why I’m supposed to care. He didn’t even feel like he had a big reaction to Taylor killing aster. Was it a problem with the timeskip? Genuinely what is his deal suppose to be. Why am I suppose to care about him? Someone please tell me I don’t get it.
worm is a dnd campaign and theo is a player who joined in late tier 3 so they had to rush to get his backstory hooks resolved b4 they moved to the end of the campaign
Theo Anders aka Golem is so good on retrospective. The name Golem coming from (iirc) Jewish folklore in where a giant man made of clay is made to protect the Jews and has the word "truth" printed on its forehead. this is so cool because of his familial background being born from two key members in empire 88. i like the truth thing and if you subscribe to the idea that he almost knows truths before they are true or confirmed, aster, not really being able to stop jack slash before he wreaks havoc, how to defeat scion.
i love analyzing shit so much.
