Pleased Ancestors
The offering was simple - smoke, flame, and bread, but the ancestors came readily, happily, to see the descendant that called to them. Offerings were always a welcome gift, but connection was even better.
“I know my home is cluttered and messy, but we are doing the best we can, please come and be welcome,” the descendant said. The ancestors looked around and did not see the “clutter” but instead saw books. There were so many books that most of the surfaces were covered with them.
A sage!
A scholar!Â
A wealthy one, too, to afford all of these tomes. The ancestors looked happily at their humble child and smiled. They were well pleased to see such intelligence, humility, and curiosity in the eyes of their genetic inheritor. Yes, they would visit with such a one.
