These cannon balls are too big for my cannon!’ A Staffordshire military figure with a set of Victorian carpet bowls..... he has an interesting story: the model is Lieutenant General Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden- Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell, OM, GCMG, GCVO, and founder of the #Scouts movement. He fought in the Boer war so was the subject of this Staffordshire model, the ‘social media’ of the time/ if you ‘followed’ him, you would have this figure on your mantel shelf. HOWEVER the staff. potters were also selling to the other side, and this one is titled ‘De Wet’ instead of Powell- a general from the #Boer side!
