While the targeted violence of the far right in Charlottesville shocked anti-racism activists around the world, the courage and resilience of 40,000 anti-fascist counter-protesters in Boston shows us the way forward. On September 17, a motley crew of far-right groups together with known fascists have called a demonstration in Melbourne targeting First Nations, African and migrant youth. They say it's a rally against crime: we know that it’s thinly veiled racism and scapegoating. Make a stand for a more just society against the far right with the campaign against racism and fascism (CARF) and other community groups on September 17. We’ll be meeting at 11:30 am at the State Library to hear addresses from community members and activists before marching as a united bloc on the far right at Parliament House, sending a message of solidarity with the oppressed, including migrants, First Nations people and the African community. Join us in making this rally as vibrant and diverse as possible. The more people we have on our side, the louder we can say ‘No more Charlottesvilles—not here, not now, not ever!’ *****Add your groups name to our list of endorsements!***** - Equal Love - Refugee Action Coalition (Victoria) - Jews Against Fascism - No Room for Racism - Students for Palestine - Black Feminist Ranter - Celeste Liddle - Socialist Alternative - Red Flag Newspaper - Monash Social Justice Office - National Union of Students LGBTI Officer - NECA Student Association - The Socialists - Freedom Socialist Party - Radical Women - Melbourne Anarchist Club - Melbourne Anarchist Communist Group - Indigenous Social Justice Association Melbourne GET ACTIVE!
