James Dashner’s The Maze Cutter takes place 73 years after the end of The Maze Runner series. The descendants of the Gladers are living in peace on their island when a visitor from the outside world crashes upon their shores. The visitor brings a small group of descendants to main land in hopes that they can help provide a cure for the Flare once and for all. If only it were that easy. The Flare has mutated and there now multiple variants floating around. The former United States is split into factions. No one can be trusted. While I enjoyed revisiting this world, it resonated very differently this time. It’s not because this is a new book and new series. It’s because after having lived through a real pandemic and seeing the effects of climate change happen in real time, it’s scary reading a dystopian post-apocalyptic novel set in a world where the apocalypse was caused a pandemic and natural disaster caused by climate change. It’s scary to think that this future is entirely possible with the way things are going. Despite the way the book mirrors real life, it’s still a faced-paced thrilling adventure with a fantastic cast of characters. I can’t to read the next book in the series! 🚢🦠🩸💉 #themazecutter #jamesdashner #gladers #thegodhead #remenentnation #theorphan #oldmanfrypan #dystopian #scifi #ya #bookstagram #bookstagrammer https://www.instagram.com/p/CoBN_irLKV3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
