Another great good place of New Orleans: Buffa's Lounge on Esplanade in the Marigny. In the words of SNL's Stefon, "This place has EVERYTHING." A locals bar across the street from the French Quarter. Quality live music with no cover. A corner dive with cheap drinks on one side; a dining room with solid food on the other. A neon sign. I love it, and that's why I drew it. I developed a performance installation for Bustin Out Productions' Heaven/Hell Halloween Party | The idea is to create an intimate & quiet space within a chaotic context using headphones; people in the room could hear my naked voice, but once they put on the headphone, they would hear my guitar playing and ethereal filters on my vocals | I invited folks to sit down, listen to a song, and then (as a thank you) I gave them a USB with my SoHo Spirit album for free.
One aspect that surprised me was that many people were eager to either play me a song or join in my singing to my guitar playing | Being new to New Orleans, it is critical that I absorb what local musicians and artists are already doing | Glad that my installation facilitated such interactions |Â The Marigny, New Orleans 2014
