They should make a dating sim where you have to strategically time your polite responses, anecdotes, and quips in real time.

#different characters could have different tolerance levels for being interrupted #and as the conversation goes on #dialogue options fade in and out as they lose relevance in the conversation and you don’t have the chance to say t #them anymore #some responses could be really time sensitive like politely laughing at a joke that wasn’t actually funny #maybe some characters actually like it when you interrupt them by finishing their sentences because they see that as something to bond over #like omg we’re so similar!!#anyway I think this could actually be really fun and engaging #and also unmmm might be helpful for some people like me that sometimes have difficulty gauging conversations because #to me they’re like a turn based game I have to focus really really hard #also alternatively or in addition to this game #if it was a horror game that would be even more interesting

You know, even though I said that I feel like the reactions to Buffy’s death in “In Every Generation” are kind of muted. (Though, to be fair, that might largely be because the book is from Frankie’s point of view, and the adults might not be letting her see them fall apart.)

There is one moment where you see how upset they are, that I really love.

So, there’s this demon in the book who eats people’s hearts.

And there’s a hot second where Spike and Willow are led to believe that he was the one who caused the explosion that killed all the Slayers, so he could eat all their hearts.

(He actually didn’t, and only Frankie realizes Spike and Willow are wrong to think this and that it doesn’t add up. And he’s never eaten Slayer hearts, even though there’s vicious rumors that he has and wants them, just because he fought a Slayer once and eats other hearts. He actually fell in love with a Slayer, and wants vengeance for her. He’s also trying to see if she’s still alive. And through part of the story, since he couldn’t help his Slayer, he decides to help Frankie. And it’s pretty clear that his Slayer’s going to be dead, and he and Frankie are going to end up together. But that’s neither her nor there.)

But, like, while Frankie’s trying to tell them, “Wait. We don’t know for sure he did it,” even though part of her does think there’s a possibility of it, Spike’s basically like, “Nah, man, we’re gonna kill him painfully,” and Willow says, “Damn straight. No one eats Buffy’s heart and gets away with it” and her eyes flash black... Okay, neither Spike or Willow say that at all. I’m paraphrasing here. They didn’t say any of that, except that last line of Willow’s, but you get the point.
