Kaen was killed by an enemy of his brother’s, Jaspern Ravi. They were originally going after Jaspern because he killed one of their own and they wanted revenge. Kaen stepped in, making a deal with them, wanting to protect his older brother and confident in his abilities. If they defeated him in a fight then they would leave Jas and their family alone. Kaen won, obviously, and while the enemy stepped aside in defeat, there was an accident as Kaen turned his back. One wrong step and their blade killed him.

Lerato, his brother’s mentor and “friend” (complicated relationship but Kaen loves Lera) was not pleased that Jaspern was devastated by Kaen’s death. So Lera went about capturing Kaen’s soul and bringing it back to life. Cause that’s what Lera does. 

The thing about souls are that they are tricky and finicky, Kaen’s being exceptionally so since it was meant to be an only life. Souls have an expiration date (if you will) and an “only life” is meant to be just that. One life, one chance to live. After that death its gone. 

Impossible royals.

Ber has to cover his mouth to keep from laughing at Aim’s overly dramatic display, slipping his own clothes off in as seductive a manner as he could manage. “I might’ve made some cheesecake truffles. A little extra cream cheese, since I know how you like it so much.” He hums as he grabs the little container of them out of his backpack when he passes it. “Maybe that’ll be enough to diffuse your 50%~?”

He watches with such a pleased look on his face, every article removed from Ber’s form eliciting a content purr.  When Ber doesn’t immediately climb onto the bed, though, his chewed-up ears perk and sharp blue eyes observe everything unfolding before him.

Cheesecake.  Truffles.

Like a cat, his pupils go WIDE as he scrambles over to the edge of the bed, hands needily GRASPING at the container.

*shoves Dei at him* Just make sure you keep him on his leash, or he does dumb things. Okay actually, just keep him away from Misu (his soul mate), and he’s mostly fine.

“That would be me, yes. I am happy that Cecil talks about me so often.” Ah, upon closer inspection, it was now clear that this man was definitely not human. The ears on top of his head made that more than a given. That, and that he was clearly as interested in Morgan as the witch was in him. Hm... a very good sign.

“Well, perhaps we can hold off on leading me back, for now. As you have said, they are quite overwhelming when they are together... it is no wonder that they are such good friends.” He tilted his head when the man came close, but didn’t move back as his cheek brushed against the witch’s own.
