Big announcement! Saturday, March 14, The Inner Party finally RETURNS! We'll be at The Smoke & Barrel Tavern with one our sister bands, Universe Contest, who will be coming from their native Nebraska on a "we're going to SXSW because we are legit hot shit" tour and wanted to stop by and play with buddies, and Space In The 80s, led by fearless khaleesi Amyh Hart, and again, one of our bestest friends in all the universe (no contest!) Incidentally, the first time TIP and UC played together waaay back in the day, at the latter day JR's (RIP), was with Amyh's old baby, the legendary dreamfast, so there's a lot of full circle action here.
This stage may get so hot that they may have to rename the place just "Smoke" and lose the Barrel, because we plan on setting it on fire! This is our first show since last summer, and we're really excited. We are hopefully nearing the end of the pre-production/writing phase of our new record, Mid-South Moissanite, and although there's still some stuff to be done, we're hoping to hit the studio sometime late spring/early summer and have it out around August, almost exactly two years after the release of Darker. Regardless, we WILL be debuting new material at this show, and we've got some hits on our hands.
Per usual, in the midst of all this joy, there is some bittersweet news. After almost two years of leal service, our beloved brother Jacob Arnold is stepping away from the band. We are very sad to see him go, but as easily one of the greatest drummers in the area, the man is just busy and has other bands that haven't been in hibernation with egomaniacs that write in seclusion, so he just has too much going on. He will be sadly missed, but he's still very much now and forever a part of the IP family, and you may even still hear him do some stuff on our record. Thank you for everything, Jacob! Godspeed!
BUT, we are absolutely stoked to announce our new drummer Cameron Bass, a superhuman beast with a real good feel for our music, who is picking up very quickly, and whom we are very confident is "the guy." We're also very excited that for the very first time in our almost 13 year history, the drummer of The Inner Party is not in any other bands, and we are hopeful that for once in life, monogamy will make everything better. That's all for now. Much love. #TIPUC80s
PS - thank you so much Kori J. Bowers for all the incredible design work you did for this show!
