Hey so being honest, I’m thinking of not even being a nurse anymore. Funny right? I worked THIS hard only to think: Well this isn’t for me after all And I think that’s okay. I’d rather find out now than later along the way in college. I’d rather find out now than years down the road as I worked a job I know wouldn’t make me happy.

hi angel!! i just want to say, i fully support you no matter what you decide to do (and i’m sure your friends and family will too!!) it’s more than okay to realise that something you’re doing isn’t for you after all, even if you’ve spent a while on it. it’s better to realise and call it quits than to half-heartedly continue just for the sake of doing it bc you’ve always done it, you know? be true to yourself and do what you want + enjoy, not what you feel like you should be doing 🌟 anyway, i’m proud of you for coming to this realisation and best of luck with whatever you choose to do next!!

So I was diagnosed with psychosis at 13years old and I've been coping very well up until about 2 months ago when I got out of my abusive relationship and ever since I've been having hallucinations and panic attacks and Struggling.... while having crippling depression and anxiety.... this is so hard

When it comes to psychosis there isn’t just one instant cure. It’s medication and therapy. And learning how to deal with it. - @theinkedbookkeeper

Basically from what I know, the only thing that u can really do to control hallucinations is lower stress (smth about cortisol and dopamine and some other neurotransmitters blah blah blah I haven’t gotten around to proper research) so the main focus is just normal stuff for those other problems. Like take the deep breaths periodically to try and control adrenaline feedback loops that cause panic attacks, be kind to yourself, make sure you’re properly nourishing and caring for your body, etc.

And honestly just reach out! There’s lots of grounding techniques but the best way to keep at least one foot in reality is by being around people that know what’s up that you can ask reality related questions for and just talk to, which also helps with the stress lowering stuff. And just those classic psychosis things like take a pic and send it to someone! Take the pic and then flip it and turn it’s colors inverse! Cross ur eyes! Listen to music!

See if you can access emdr therapy bc it helps so so much with trauma, because your brain can finally file away what happened even though it was abnormal. But really to me I would assume that the stress and trauma is the main thing to address to help this pal out because psychosis is really just a medication and time and environment thing that u gotta wait out as those things change. Let emotions run their course when you feel them, feel first, take action later. - @gayjacket
