Pit stop in my hometown #Atlanta to share some breakfast with my boy @bahamontes . It's been a while since I got back home, seeing the faces and feeling the energy of this place. As I got closer to downtown, I saw this scene in front of me. One fella headed to work, and one to school, perhaps a chance for change, but sometimes the odds seem pretty stacked. A lot of the #cities around the country have gone through an enormous revival, but downtown Atlanta still feels very empty, the result of years of sprawl coupled with income inequality and poverty. I grew up here, where #MLK was the biggest hero any of us knew, white or black. Still, I'm always a bit saddened to see that despite all the celebration of his life and work, very little has been achieved towards his vision of a civil society. There is still painful lack of opportunities for low income folks in the south, where the legacy of history casts a very long shadow. Despite this, Atlanta is still a really special place, the affordability of property and life, the cultural engine that won't quit producing innovations, the lower barrier to entry for almost any type of creativity or work makes it a ideal location for so much. There is so much possibility, and every time I go home, it's what I leave with. #thehumanlandscape

Walking around my own neighborhood for the first time in a while. When you get home at first though, you get to see it new again, all the bits you forgot, for just a moment. Walking down Georgia Ave this morning I looked in the window of the Old Wilson's diner, now named Torrie's and under new ownership.
