Lena: Hey Sara, having a spa day up here is nice and all, but some of us are starving and we can't find the kitchen.

Nia: Me want food or me mutiny and take this ship to a combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell!

Sara: I will lead you to it. It's not exactly the banquet I had planned for everyone, but it'll do.

Ryan: Careful, she's eaten all the celery already.

Jack: Well, yes. Heckuva time getting it through customs, I’ll tell you that.

My @trek-rarepair-swap for @thehumanarkle who requested Seven/Samantha Wildman. I feel like their ship name could be a poker pun, but I don’t know enough about poker. 7’s wild?

I expressed my misgivings with this pairing here. But as I say there, I do love the idea of Naomi and her two moms, and expanding on that idea, Naomi setting them up is adorable. 

Naomi enlists Neelix and Tom, who both also find it adorable, and they create an elaborate plot involving the holodeck and a romantic dinner + getaway. Seven is confused and Sam is bemused. As the evening goes on, Sam has to explain what’s happening to Seven, who had never considered Sam as a romantic partner – her algorithm did not consider them notably compatible. Sam blushes because, uh, well, she has considered it. Seven goes very quiet at this admission and Sam starts to panic. She excuses herself and runs away. Neelix, Tom, and especially Naomi are disappointed. 

But a week or so later, Seven approaches Sam – who had been avoiding her – and invites her back to the holodeck. Sam is reluctant, but Seven is insistent. She doesn’t want them to be awkward. She convinces Sam by pointing out that it is in Naomi’s best interests for them to get along and put this behind them. 

But what Sam finds on the holodeck is neither Naomi/Neelix/Tom’s set up nor any kind of simple, fun, platonic adventure. It’s a date, set up by Seven, with help from Chakotay. Samantha is blown away. Seven explains she re-did her algorithm, adding new variables, and Sam scored higher. Sam wants to know what the new variables were. Seven explains they were based on her preferences and affections and skewed to raise Sam’s score. Sam thinks that’s the most romantic thing she’s ever heard.
