Afternoon Everyone.
Here we go again with some more tracks to give a listen to. Messages getting back to me that more of you are reading this blog each time and hopefully enjoying the songs I list. It was my birthday this week and as a result I have taken the week off work. I am not ashamed to say that I spent a good 5-6 hours one day on Spotify plotting some new music and have found some really great artists. So, yeah.......
First up this week is Tei Shi. A Columbian/Canadian singer and songwriter, born Valerie Teicher who is now based in New York. Columbia and Canada are not exactly bywords for musical greatness so do not panic, she is not some Shakira / Celine Dion hybrid, she is much better than that! Her debut album ‘Crawl Space’ was released last year and is an incredibly melodic, whispery sort of sound which I feel many would enjoy if they only listened to more of her. I will be keeping an eye out for her in the future and hoping there is a second album to follow!

Secondly, a group you may have heard of! I recently rediscovered their sound and have struggled to stop listening since! I own one of their albums ‘Very Mercenary’ which contains the brilliant song ‘The Sensual Woman’ which featured on the Snatch soundtrack. The group are jazz hip hop pairing The Herbaliser and rediscovering them has brought me to the attention of their 2008 album ‘Same As It Never Was’ which is simply brilliant, I cannot believe it missed it first time around! The song I have chosen is taken from this album and I find impossible to sit still when I listen to it, I go into tap overdrive! Never really had as much mainstreamness (is that a word....it is now) as they deserved and should definitely be given some of your time to give them a listen. Featuring the vocal talents of Jessica Darling, the song is.....

Finally today and I take it down a notch, in late night smooth radio style! I first came across this band when I heard the title song off their debut album ‘Becoming A Jackal’. The band are called Villagers, hailing from Dublin they formed in 2008 and have had success with each album released thus far, both in UK Indie charts and also in the Irish mainstream. Good levels of Irish mainstreamness. I knew that word would come in handy! Last week they released their 5th album, ‘The Art Of Pretending To Swim’ and the song I have chosen is from this album, having been introduced to it by my good friend Mr Spotify.
