Do you have any 'childhood friends to lovers' trope headcanons for clexa? Asking for a friend... đ
God, I was thinking about this for ages. And then all I wanted to do was write a childhood-friends-to-lovers fic haha. I stopped myself though!
Iâm not sure theyâre headcanons or just things I like to imagine, but Iâm kinda a sucker for Lexa being from some sort of broken home or in fostercare and Clarke (and maybe Jake, too, bc he stays alive damn it) becoming Lexaâs surrogate family. I also like a lot of pining. Like...a LOT. It probably makes me a bad person, but I also like the idea of Lexa keeping her sexuality secret for a long time, even after Clarke comes out to her as bi, purely because seemingly-unrequited-pining and because she doesnât want to make Clarke feel uncomfortable.Â
Hmm. Thatâs more or less mwtw with a few details changed isnât it?  Lol. Okay, also, Clarke totally dyes her hair brown because she finds Lexaâs hair so beautiful and she thinks she just wants to be more like her, and ofc Lexa is horrified so she gets Clarke back by bleaching her own hair. Abby has to take them both to the salon the next day.Â
I would also want them both to be equally good at school and always competing for the top spot, but in a cute âiâm happy when you winâ kinda way. Except that when it comes to the valedictorian spot, Clarke deliberately flubs something near the end of their senior year because Lexa needs it on her college applications to get a scholarship and Clarke knows her parents have more than enough money saved for her own tuition. She never, ever, ever admits it to Lexa.Â
Oh, and neither of them ever date anyone else. One of those things I enjoy reading sometimes but would never write because Iâm only interested in writing clexa scenes haha. But there might be some latent jealousy when one or the other is asked out. And Lexa would totally be asked out by dudes because hello sheâs gorgeous and no one knows sheâs gay (and guys are clueless anyway), but she can only snort to herself when Clarke gets all huffy, even after sheâs gracefully declined them. Â
Also - clueless friends. Iâd go the humorously compulsory-heterosexuality route, with their friends thinking even the most blatant theyâre-in-love clues to be normal gal-pal behavior. Like... walking in on them naked and assuming theyâre just changing their clothes together. Under the covers. With Clarkeâs lips accidentally affixed to Lexaâs neck. Happens to the best of us. :-)
