What to Expect When You're Expecting
Its half past midnight on a breezy July night. Ezio Auditore sits in the office of his mansion in Rome while his son, Gray Auditore sleeps peacefully in the room above Ezio. He studies the ring he was given by his beautiful wife on their wedding day six years ago. It glimmered in the vast moonlight.
"Diana..." A low whisper escapes his lips and he wonders if she is okay.
She is expecting their second child soon.
Ezio stood to his feet, slipping the wedding band onto his left ring finger and he walked out of the office. He made sure Gray was asleep and whispered the incantation Diana had taught him so that no harm could come to the house or his son while he was out, looking for his wife. He went outside, inhaling the sweet jasmine filled air and wondered to himself where she would usually be. "With the thieves, surely." he told himself and made a shrilly whistle, calling his horse. The beautiful black horse sprinted to its master and Ezio jumped onto its back to ride away into the bright moonlight. He rose throughout Rome towards The Sleeping Fox to find his wife gambling with the other thieves.
"Diana." Ezio grunted, giving her a look that said, "Please come here" The goddess in disguise smiled at him, her lurid green eyes twinkling in the warm candlelight and she stood, patting her pregnant tummy and walking towards Ezio. "Salute, mio amore. What brings you here?" she said, greeting him with a melting kiss. "You, my love. It is late and you must rest." he said with a worried gaze. She sighed and gathered the money she won from the thieves and walked out. Ezio followed after her.
"Estelle was kicking tonight. She may be coming soon." Diana said, taking Ezio's hand and placing it on her swollen stomach. "Soon as in tonight?" he asked. "Maybe." she replied and winced at the contractions she was having. "Merda. Are you okay, Diana? Maybe we should go to the inn, should you go into labor." "I'll be fine, Ezio. We'll make it to the house." she insisted. Ezio didn't seem so sure.
By the time they reached the pleasure district, Diana went into labor. She was crying due to the pain and the couple had no choice but to haul ass to the Rosa Fiore where Claudia was. "Quick! She's about to have her!" Ezio shouted and Claudia led Diana up the stairs and into a clean and unused room. Ezio helped his wife settle onto the bed. "I'll go for the doctor!" Ezio panicked, beads of sweat trickling down his forehead. "No time! I'll deliver the child." Claudia said and sent for her girls to fetch the medical supplies.
In five tiring hours, Estelle Marina Auditore was born.
Diana had been put to sleep for awhile since the sun was coming up and Ezio helped Claudia clean the little girl. "She has your eyes." Claudia told Ezio, smiling as he handed her older brother the child wrapped in a warm blanket. "She's so beautiful..." he whispered and kissed her forehead, which promised a happy life for her.
