from what I remember:

alive Hale family w/ Talia alpha

Derek somehow became alpha and was kinda run out of town so he built his pack somewhere else (I think cora went with him? or joined later)

he owns a bar

stiles is his emissary and owns (I think) a comic store with Scott

Talia is a bitch and is trying to match peter with someone from another pack and peter decides to try his chance with Derek's pack

Talia et al. are not happy and try to get peter back, expecting Derek to roll over

i think there might be a scene where Laura and the other pack's emissary trying to kidnap someone to get them to do what they want and getting their arse handed to them

stiles and the gang discover lots of shady business and decided to take them all down with the sheriff helping

peter and stiles kinda dancing around each other (don't remember is this ever gets to the relationship or if it's pre- relationship only)

and it's funny, 'cause it used to be some of my fav films, simply due to my love for the character of hannibal lecter and hopkins' interpretation of him. and movie!hannibal was who i had in mind when i read the books after.

but nbc's hannibal and mads mikkelsen's iteration of hannibal lecter has spoiled me and i just can't enjoy the movies as much. i mean, silence of the lambs was the best of the 3, obv and red dragon/hannibal were objectively meh but i could still get behind them for hopkins' hannibal. now, not so much. i just see the flaws and compare them to the series. which kinda isn't fair, but i can't help it.

and it's extra funny for me, 'cause when the series came out, i was super sceptical. i loved hopkins' hannibal so much, and i didn't know mikkelsen, so didn't have a point of reference for his acting.

'nouveau riche oblige' which i can only assume is a play on words with the idiom 'noblesse oblige' (per wiki: nobility extends beyond mere entitlement, requiring people who hold such status to fulfill social responsibilities).

nouveau riche meaning new money, which the rest of the house kinda screams too imho. so either it's there as a nod from the director or whoever about the location the story happens in, or (which i find more likely) it's supposed to show the new money owner wanting to demonstrate old money's noblesse oblige and fucking it up and just embodying everything old money hates about new money.

in any case i find it hilarious within the context of clue. 😂

and omg, it's so great, i binge watched the first season yesterday and am going to do the same with the 2nd one today.

i love the story, i actually now really want to read her 5 million words diaries (lots of which was written in code!). but on top of that, the series really hits me in my historical fashion lil heart! like, it's the most historically accurate it can be with all the characters, and i absolutely love it!

plus, anne lister hits all my aesthetic fashion goals, even if it's late regency* style rather late victorian/early edwardian (which is my personal preference re fashion). mostly all black, mix of typically men fashion with what is acceptable women fashion and just, yes love it.

and like the struggle between society's expectations for (landed) women and who they love and how they live.

all of it. just yes.

my only beef rn, is the same i have with lots of historical dramas (i have the same beef with all the austen screen adaptations i've seen for example), is that is so very fucking white. there is one poc character, anne's chamber-maid eugénie, and that's it. maybe season 2 will redeem itself on that front? not getting my hopes up, but it's so very infuriating. it's like good grief people! poc existed in england at the time and not just as enslaved people! but that's a rant for another time. but always raises the hackles of my inner historian.
