10 Questions
Hi blogherosix,Ā
Thanks for tagging me I love to meet new friends.
Rules: always post the rules, answer the questions given to you, write 10 questions of your own, tag 10 people.
1) How would you poorly explain your WIP in one sentence?
The one Iām trying to sell is speculative, upmarket,Ā like if Paulo Coehloās work mated with Dan Brownās and produced a girl child called Dorothy.
The one Iām stillĀ writing is mainstream, womenās fic like Elizabeth Berg or Liane Moriarty.
2) Which OC is the most like you personality wise? Physically?
Many of my characters have a bit of me. My beta readers say that the domestic goddess Tara most strikes them as me. Like her, I lost a brother and Iām a blond mommy.
3) What have you incidentally become an expert of because of your writing?
Writing. I started because I needed to get certain ideas out of my head and IĀ challenged myself to write an actual novel with said ideas. I didnāt plan to share myĀ work initially.
4) Do you have MBTI types for your characters? The Zodiac? If so, what are they?
I have a degree in Psychology. I rely on that heavily forĀ characterĀ development.
5) What line or paragraph are you particularly proud of in your story?
Iām a big picture girl and I start with ideas to explore and stories to tell. Thatās more my focus than individual lines.
6) Youāve just run into your OC on the sidewalk. What is the reaction?
Iād probably be in the zone and pass them by unawares.
7) What is one piece of writing advice you absolutely love? Hate?
I like this advice from the person who tagged me.Ā
Writing even when youāre not inspiredāespecially when youāre not inspired. I love the phrase, āYou canāt edit a blank page.ā Writing is hard but rewarding, but you have to do it.Ā
It works to just sit down and slog through it. Sometimes it incites the muse.
I hate any advice thatās formulaic. Thereās no magic formula to writing. Thereās trends and tropes, sure, but no one way to be successful at writing. Write what you want to write.
This one is true too. Fresh and new comes from this point of view, as well as motivation and fun, but one also has to have at least a good education on the standards of good writing and style. And when submitting for publication one must be able to follow guidelines.
8) If you could introduce your characters to characters from another authorās work, who would you introduce and why?
To be honest, the list is too long. I love experiments.
9) What is something you love that your OC hates, or they love and you hate?
Grace loves nit-picky organizational work. Iām not so gifted.
10) Is there a song, book, poem, artwork, or person that fuels your current WIP?
No
