Lovebirds
Elowen’s favorite part of the palace is the big gardens it has. There’s many trees and shrubs with all types of sweet smelling flowers and berries and, although most of them were planted by previous generations of birds, Aspen got some of Elowen’s favorite flowers for them.
The gardens are nearly as big as the palace itself and everyone in the village has free access to them, but Aspen has his own private grounds, with a small lake and lots of shadow to rest. When they were young they spent long hours walking between trees and enjoying each other’s company.
Their wedding was also held there, in the company of few close friends. The village’s elders never approved of their relationship and because of that their marriage was kept a secret from almost everyone. That was more than forty years ago and their love for each other never wavered since.
Sometimes, if you look through the western windows of the palace, you can still see them walking through the gardens, as if time had never passed there.
