The-Drum - Oxblood
The Drum For many First Nations people of Canada, the drum represents the universal heartbeat of Mother Earth. The drum is a sacred item, often used by the men in the family and only brought out for ceremony or special honourings. The first sound we hear as a baby in the womb is the heartbeat of our mother. First Nations peoples manifest this sound by playing a special rhythm on the drum. This rhythm facilitates healing and realigns the four realms of human existence (mental, spiritual, emotional and physical). Cree Hunting and Trapping For many First Nations and Métis people of Canada, hunting and trapping is still an essential part of the traditional way of life. In the Cree tradition, Mother Earth and all her animals are living beings that possess consciousness, free will and habits. The relationship between hunter and the animals is based on mutual respect and honour. The Cree Hunter will give thanks and make use of the entire animal. Like many other aspects of Indigenous ways of life, tradition harvesting activities continue to become threatened as the elders become older and the youth begin to focus on more modern ways of living. Artist and Bigstone Cree Nation member @lancecardinal75 helped @ikeacanada create the company's first-ever showroom in the essence of a modern Indigenous family. The room, which was inspired by a local Indigenous family, features personal items to show and educate visitors about Indigenous cultures. “As we strive toward contributing to a more equal and inclusive world, we want to ensure our store environments reflect the many diverse communities that we serve,” IKEA said in an announcement. • IKEA South Edmonton Common location. 1311 102 St NW, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Digital marketing predictions for 2021 and beyond 2020 has well and truly been an ‘unprecedented’ year, and with Brexit underway and vaccines on the horizon, next year is likely to be a chaotic one too. Through all the uncertainty, some key trends have emerged over the last 12 months that we expect will shape the...
Why are some brands still failing to recognise the power of social media? I’m sure most of you would have heard about PureGym’s Luton and Dunstable site publishing an unforgiveable racist Facebook post during Black History Month. While I won’t dwell on the offensive details, it raises an important point: there are still brands out there that...

Only existing market leaders are benefiting from coronavirus lockdowns New, agile startups usually get all the attention, but as The Drum columnist Samuel Scott writes, one unintended consequence of the coronavirus lockdown is that the big business Goliaths are actually pummeling the small Davids to death because of how distribution has changed. The best pizza...
