Ethene hasn’t spoken to her biological family in years, but through the Inquisition she has made many friends. Her closest are Cassandra and Varric, like bickering older siblings, and Dorian. They became close after witnessing the alternate future together and now she goes to him with just about all her problems, from philosophy and magic to fashion and relationships. Cullen even gets jealous of their relationship before he realizes it would never be anything more than plutonic.
The one person Ethene doesn’t get along with at all is Vivienne. They rarely see eye to eye and Ethene feels when they disagree Vivienne treats her like an ignorant child. Still, she tries to be civil and knows that the Court Enchanter is a talented mage and an important part of the Inquisition.
Over all Ethene is a people pleaser. She takes a while to relax around new people. She tries to get along with everyone and meet their expectations of her. Eventually, most of her companions realize this and tell her to relax around them.

Elayne Trevelyan never figured she’d find romance. She had a few flirtations while in the Circle, but these either petered out quickly (as with the Templar who caught her eye) or ended in tragedy (the mage girl who underwent her Harrowing and was made Tranquil shortly after their flirtation began). Once she was out and the leader of the Inquisition, she knew she’d never have the time or capacity for romance ever again.
And then Josephine held a masked ball at Skyhold, and Elayne met a most unexpected man.
She never would have believed in love at first sight. Honestly, she’s not sure it counts as love at first sight if you’ve known him in another guise for some time now. But Elayne and Cullen came together over the four nights of that ball in a way she never would have dreamed possible. After, things were…good, but awkward. Because of their actions at the ball, the romance of “Jenny and Marcus” became an instant sensation across Orlais, and some of their friends delighted in “accidentally” leaving copies of the poetry, songs, erotic chapbooks and romances being written about the mysterious Starkhaven lady and her Kirkwall guard lover.
It became a thing. Thankfully, it was enough of a distraction that less attention was paid to Elayne and Cullen quietly getting together, at least at first. By the time that their romance couldn’t be hidden anymore, they’d already had a chance to build a strong foundation for the relationship and navigate the early difficulties (such as Cullen’s increased reluctance to watch as Elayne threw herself head-first into danger. That needed long, careful discussion and negotiation, as Cullen immediately began questioning whether he had to stay in Skyhold or whether he could venture off into the wilds with Elayne and still control troop movements.)
Elayne and Cullen were a celebrity couple and there was no escaping it. This wore of them both—as both Elayne and Cullen are incredibly private—but they understood why all of Thedas was so interested in the Inquisition and its leaders, so they bore it when they had to and relieved frustration by making up outlandish stories about busybodies while in bed late into the evening. (One of their favorite places to be is in bed together, or sitting on a windowsill wrapped together in a blanket, curled up and talking.)
They had two weddings: one a quiet affair in the garden at Skyhold and the other a massive to-do in the Winter Palace, followed by (naturally) a masked ball. Thankfully for Elayne and Cullen, their friends understand their hatred of crowds and being the center of attention, so for this second wedding, Leliana again donned her padding and mask to play the Inquisitor while a visiting warden Alistair played Cullen.
…which is how technically Leliana and Alistair are married, sort of. It’s enough to let Leliana and the Hero of Ferelden make Alistair blush fit to burst whenever they’re in a teasing mood.
I’m not personally inspired but I want to participate in the Thedas Plus Size Appreciation Week somehow, because positivity and representation are important.
So, if thedasplussizeappreciationweek don’t mind reblogging this, I would like to let it know that I can write a drabble for those who don’t feel capable to do it for their OC…
It seems that, for unknowing reasons, Tumblr sometimes doesn’t notify one of the tags. I after a day your work isn’t been reblogged by us, feel free to live a message in the askbox and we’ll fix it!

For everyday wear, Ethene prefers things practical, comfortable, and flattering, in that order. No matter how pretty something is or how good she looks in it she wouldn’t wear it if it would interfere with her duties as a healer and Inquisitor. She also rarely wears things that show her upper arms as that is the part of her body she dislikes the most. This means her usual outfit consists of pants tucked into boots and a long sleeve shirt pushed up to her elbows. Probably in a dark or neutral color so as not to attract attention. The easiest way to survive the Ostwick circle for her was to try not to be noticed.
For special occasions, most of that goes out the window. For a special event that she really wants to look good for (probably specifically for a certain ex-templar), she is willing to suffer for beauty. High heels, restrictive undergarments, bold jewel toned colors, frills and poofy skirts that remind her she can be feminine, all make her feel truly beautiful. These occasions reminder her that if she wanted to she could be pretty; it is just not worth the work.
Still working on days 3 and 4, but let’s celebrate my OC’s sense of fashion:
Demetra Tevelyan has three simple rules in her wardrobe:
- when not in the battlefield, colors, colors and colors!Â
- feminine dresses, with delicate embroideries, usually cut under her breasts
- everyday a new hairstyle
I headcanon the fashion in Ostwick is quite close to the Italian Renaissance’s one, so with precious clothes, but not as big as the Orlesians and a particuar attention for the hair.
Thedas Plus Size Appreciation Week
Day 2: Self-Esteem and Self-LoveÂ
I know, I’m late. What can I say?? I’m sorry, but life happens!!! I still hope you’ll enjoy this!
“Uhm, I don’t know how to put this in a kind way, Inquisitor.”.
Demetra arched an eyebrow “Then, don’t.”
“The armor, Inquisitor.” Harrit said dryly, rubbing his head “The armor doesn’t fit well. Well, it doesn’t fit at all, it’s too tight. I can’t close it around your torso. I’ll have to enlarge this Orlesian crap, I’m sorry.”.
Demetra couldn’t restrain a laugh. If that was her worst problem during the day, it’d have been a great day.
After looking for a little at Harrit, busy to bicker with Dagna about if putting one of her weird gadget in the Inquisitor’s armor was a good idea or not - it’s a rune, Harritt, c’mon, open your mind, you’re not one of my previous fellows from Orzammar!- , the Inquisitor closed her eyes, relaxing sensing the sound of the waterfall, the familiar scent of fire and iron in the forge.
It was good to be quietly at Skyhold, after all the problems found in the Emerald Graves, and that dragon appeared from only Andraste knew where. Smiling, she foretasted the next tasks of her day: a quick – very quick – meeting with a Rivain ambassador, some tea with Josie and maybe, after that, she would have been able to force Cullen to take a break. A not so quick one. Oh, she wanted absolutly to make him try a piece of that chocolate sent by the comtesse of Mairpoux. Even neither her or Cullen had usually a thing for the sweets, that one was a worthy exception.
“You’re eating too much!” the voice appeared from nowhere in her mind “Calm down, or you’ll become as lady Demetra. Do you want that?”.
Demetra opened quickly her eyes. She knew that voice, that memory. It was the evening of her sister’s birthday party, she was having such a great time when she had heard that conversation between one of her mother’s friends and her daughter. Hidden behind the curtains, Demetra still rembered the taste of happiness in her tongue became acid, making her body shiver and her eyes red. She didn’t leave the room, because her mother wouldn’t allowed her to leave without an explanation, and Keith would probably made a mess, insulting that noblewoman or worst. The young lady Trevelyan smiled, danced, stayed fearing that behind every gentle word was hidden a cruel thought, and when everything was over, she had cried for hours in her bedroom.
Other times, other comments, others considerations with a pity smile and the excuse to speak for her sake.
Even when her father sent her to the Accademy, to learn more about fencing, her teacher hadn’t been delicate. “You’re too big, and a big body means slow movement.”.
Demetra blinked, breathing deeply. It needed some minutes to relax, to remember that that was the past. Sometimes it still hurt, but Demetra lifted her chin. She had spent enough time trying to be invisible. To be… little. She had lost enough occasions to enjoy something because she was afraid of what the people could think about her.
“You’re strong.”. Demetra jumped and Cole rubbed his hands together “I’m sorry, I… heard you.”
“It’s alright, Cole.”
“It is.” the pale boy nodded “You have the scar, but the wound doesn’t bleed anymore. Tears, running away, books were better than people, Maker why I couldn’t be better? Less myself?”.
Demetra looked at him and Cole nodded again “Now it’s different, now you’re stronger, now you stopped running. You think you were forced to, but you stopped even before the Anchor. You had started to slow down when you saw yourself in a mirror without grimacing, that time in Ostwitck.”
She smiled faintly. It had been two days before that her group left the city to go to the Conclave. Her parents gave her a family armor, their motto carved inside of one of the vambraces. That day she had seen a strong woman, in the mirror of her bedroom, a Trevelyan ready to enjoy the Conclave and offer her family help, someone worthy of trust and respect. And she didn’t dislike the view.
“And you’re happy here.”
“Yes, Cole. Despite everything, I’m very happy.”. It was madness. Her life was in constant danger, the world was threatening to fall down on their heads, she wasn’t even sure to survive to her next meeting with Corypheus. Still, little moments made her immensely happy: a shared joked with Sera, a song from the tavern, a new book gently found by Dorian…
And, most important, the feeling to be, for once, where she was supposed to be where the Maker had  wanted her, since from the beginning of her life.
“I’d like to try that thing… the sweet you wanted to give Cullen.”
“Of course, Cole. We can have the dinner together.”.
Cole smiled “No. He wants to ask you this. You missed him, but he missed you most. No warm and welcoming body, Skyhold too quiet, the stars are not so bright when he looks at them alone. He likes when you hug him too.” he stopped for a second, almost pondering his next words “He asked me to not tell you, but you’ll be happy even if I can’t understand.”
“What do you mean?”
“Cullen thinks that your clothes are pretty, but they are prettier when you let them fall on the floor.”
Before that a very blushed Inquisitor could reply, Harrit’s voice snapped “Maker, that is more than I could want to know!”.
