Mina hummed happily as she sat on the edge of an apartment complex, watching the shadows below. Why the child was so high up in the middle of the city with no supervision, in clothing that certainly wasnât suited for the nightâs cold was completely unknown to any who looked, but there was none in the street.Â
The soft sound of hooves distracted her, and she turned to see a swish of a tail disappear into an alley. âSnowball? Howâd you get so far out here?â She quickly scaled down the side of the building, her small fingers and toes catching handholds and small nooks in the wall.Â
She dropped down onto the floor of the alley, only to see her night-mare wasnât there. However, she sensed she wasnât alone in the shadows. A subtle tap of a footstep, a light rustle of clothes, a can being knocked over. It was unnerving, to say the least, and she whirled about, trying to find the source of her unease in the night.
âWhoâs there? Show yourself!â

She wasnât quite sure why he had shown up in the library under what felt like a huge amount of distress. Perhaps it was because it was so easy to get lost among the shelves and pretend you could do the same to whatever was bothering you so much. Goodness knows she did it sometimes. But even she could tell, powers or no powers, that the shadowmancer was deeply troubled by something. Considering how much she could feel his mind was twisting up over it, she could guess what, or better yet who, it most likely concerned.
He had found a dark corner to sit in, stacks of books flanking him on either side as he glared at the novel in his hands. The muse quietly stepped around him, books in her arms as she reshelved things. She glanced back at him, and internally sighed. She wished she could do something⌠Oh, wait.
"Donât worry, Iâm sure youâll think of somethingâŚ" she said to him as she slid the book a into its proper place on the book shelf. Without much warning, she passed grazing fingers over his head despite how she felt as if she was tempting him to bite her. "And if you canâtâŚ"She bent down, gave a kiss to the very edge of his forehead, and then went back to what she was doing. ââŚThat should help a little bit.â

She had heard him come up behind her, or at least had heard the usual sigh come from the libraryâs shadows.
"Need somethiIIIIIIIIIIING-!!!" Museâs question turned into a very girlish shriek as the shadowmancer picked her up. She was still for all of two seconds from pure shock as he started walking. That all stopped quickly as she started to squirm and wriggle out from his hold."PITCH!!! PUT ME DOWN, THIS IS HIGHLY UNREASONABLE!! THIS IS INDECENT, RIDICULOUS-!! PUT ME DOWN-!!"
