The black and white Night of the Living Dead was the first thing that scared me too! Like I'd seen horror movies before, but that one scene just freaked me out so much I started crying lol. Poor third grade me was not ready for those zombies
I'm with you there. And I was like....five. 😂
And it did absolutely nothing to teach me not to sneak downstairs and watch TV late at night either. Got spooked again a few years later by Bram Stoker's Dracula. Nothing graphic, just the scene where Lucy pulls her collar away to reveal the fang marks. And that's become one of my favorite movies, so I guess you never can tell.
Zombies though....nope. Even now, there are only a very few zombie movies that I'm willing to watch. I sat through a few seasons of The Living Dead because my friends were watching it, but I did NOT sleep well.
(Had to shut my anxiety up with All Glass Is Bulletproof to stop the intrusive visualizations that kept me up at night. Consciously, I know it's not objectively true, but if I assume, in a purely imaginary situation, that all the glass in the windows and doors is bulletproof, that removes many points of egress and makes the situation a lot less scary.)
