Repost Vol. 31: May 2-5, 2008 “Memphis”
Here’s the Thirty-first in a series of re-posted blogs from my old Myspace blog. See this for more explanation.
This is actually 3 different posts that I did following my trip to the Beale Street Music Fest in 2008. I’m kind of impressed at how good I was at documenting my mood and reaction to each day of the 2008 BSMF. I’ll go ahead and follow this up with a the 3 day recap post, but I felt I couldn’t post it until I showed how dedicated I was to process here in these daily posts.
As usual, the pics were not in the original post and I’m just mentioning it for consistency sake.
Memphis - Day 1...God Hates Ben Folds 5/2/2008
I've never been able to blog in the middle of vacation...this is kinda cool. Today was day one of, Memphis in May. We saw Flyleaf and My Chemical Romance. Both shows were great, especially MCR. The only downside was a big one...the fucking rain. After Flyleaf a downpour came and it continued to rain until.....well shit it's still raining. It rained so much they cancelled the Ben Folds show. We determined that it was because his biggest hit is about abortion...God intervened. We are peeling off our clothes right now and about to hit up a fourth meal.
Tomorrow, there is no rain in the forecast and we get to see Disturbed! I'll update you afterwards...holla!
Memphis - Day 2...Squish Squish Squish 5/4/2008
Day two of the Beale Street Music Fest was much more conducive to rocking than day one. It was still very wet but we only ended up getting mud on the kicks. It was so wet that during the Colbie Caillat show we ended up watching drunk chicks lose their flip-flops in the mud.
In addition to Caillat we also saw Simple Plan, Seether and Disturbed. They were all fun and the crowd was harsh at times. I'll have more in my recap in a few days.
Tomorrow.......fucking Finger Eleven!!!!!!!!!
Memphis - Day 3...Damn my legs hurt! 5/5/2008
Day 3 was slow; we woke up and had to get out of the hotel by noon, but with Finger Eleven not playing until 7:05 we had a lot of time to kill. After a lengthy argument over what movie we should go see, Robert and Jackie convinced me to go see the new Harold and Kumar movie. It was good, but I'm still pissed off that we didn't see Ironman. Oh well, we went to the concert and enjoyed Finger Eleven, and then suffered through 2 hours of jam-band crap to hear two hit songs by The Black Crows, but more on that in the recap.
We left and drove home last night getting home at like 4:00 am. Needless to say my ass was tired, but it was so damn worth it.
