Original Steeldeck®
The original Steeldeck® platform was invented by Philip Parsons and launched by PL Parsons and Company, a firm of theatrical scenery makers, in 1986.
The secret of our Steeldeck® platform? In the mid-90's Michael Passmore reconfigured the Arena frame to give it its record-breaking load capacity. Each of its components are a particular grade of Steel, all carefully selected and put together to give the Steeldeck® platform its 7.5kN/m² load capacity- a capacity independently verified by Structural Engineers. Conducting the original study, the Arup engineer commented "A lot of our concrete floors aren't as strong as that..."
Imitation 'Steeldeck' platforms are now made and supplied by many companies, but we can't guarantee that they have the equivalent load capacity, or that they are compatible with our own product range.
