𝑱𝑬𝑺𝑺𝑰𝑪𝑨 𝑱𝑶𝑵𝑬𝑺 𝑺𝑬𝑨𝑺𝑶𝑵 3 (𝑻𝑽 𝑺𝑬𝑹𝑰𝑬𝑺 𝑹𝑬𝑽𝑰𝑬𝑾)⠀ ⠀ 𝑩𝒀 𝑳𝒂𝒘𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑫. 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒆, 𝑴𝑫 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝑩𝒚𝒕𝒆⠀ ⠀ When Netflix announced that the streaming service had cut the cord with Marvel Studios, it became apparent that Season 3 would be their final installment in the 𝑱𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂 𝑱𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 franchise. This is a pity since I always considered Krysten Ritter’s hard-drinking, leather-jacketed superhero as the pick of Marvel’s litter. The good news for fans of this show is that many of the previous cast members have returned including best friend and “sister” TV talk show host Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), her control-freak talent agent mother Dorothy (Rebecca De Mornay,; unscrupulous attorney and ALS-suffering attorney Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), Jeri's fixer Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville) a former addict, and sympathetic NYPD detective Eddie Costa (John Ventimiglia). This series has delivered new and interesting characters each season, and this last one is no exception, presenting two new male protagonists, serial killer and sadistic photographer Gregory P. Salinger (Jeremy Bobb) and alcoholic empath Erik Gelden (Benjamin Walker) who detects psychic forces emanating from evildoers.⠀ ⠀ Trish has begun training to enhance the powers that resulted from experimental injections by the late Dr. Karl Malus. These same experiments wrought havoc with JJ’s murderous mother Alysa (Janet McTeer) whom Trish had previously bumped off and have now given Trish an uncontrollable violent streak, compelling her to take on the persona of the “masked vigilante.”⠀ ⠀ Jeri has broken with her old law firm and reconnected with college girlfriend Kith Lyonne (Sarita Choudhury). Jessica has survived a life-threatening knife attack and develops a casual sex relationship with her new drinking buddy Erik. Salinger who delights in taking pictures of his victims before carving them up has kidnapped Erik but JJ's intervention saves the empath's life and gets the psycho arrested.
