We recently teamed up with Mastered and the legendary art director Fabien Baron to complete a brief titled The Art of Looking. Fabien asked the Mastered network to come together and take a closer look at the people, places and things in front of them. i-D magazine then chose their top 15 submissions and published these on i-d.vice.com
Our collaboration looks at the intimate life of a private person in the public eye. Najaarak aka Dj Courtesy is a world touring DJ, about to release her first EP. She is based between her hometown of Copenhagen and Berlin, but every weekend she is off in some far corner of the world making thousands of people dance and sweat.
We wanted to have look at all sides of her life. We are interested in the mask on/ mask off juxtaposition of an artist as we follow her from day to night in her home, studio, and neighbourhood in Berlin. This collaboration shows a different side of techno, and challenges the template and context of shooting djs/producers and create a real connection to the artist in a tangible way.
