the cheat code: high maintenance practices to be low maintenance ~for yourself, by yourself
as a lowkey lazy girl who also takes pride in looking and feeling her best, here are my codes to maintaining the looks, confidence, and peace while maintains my time and money xx
Keep your hair done: in my eyes, keeping your hair done is one of the easiest ways to cut down on “getting ready time”(especially as morning shift gal with natural hair). Your hair does NOT always have to be intricate or fancy. I love just wearing my curls out or doing simple styles. Find your signature look and style and watch a tutorial on how to achieve it. I can turn a $100 style into a $30 style instantly, just by doing it myself. My curly pony is this week’s hairdo slay.
Organize your living space: this tip is super important to me. I consider organizing maintenance because it definitely makes my life easier and peaceful. It feels good to know where your items are and to come home from a long day to a clean space. I also realize what I have to restock when I organize.the code is to deep clean every 2 weeks, tidy up weekly.
Get your nails done: I lovveee my monthly nail appointments. I always use it as a way to express myself, plus it totally elevates a look. if you can’t sit at an appointment, invest in press ons! They look just as great and can be easily removed for the ones who work with their hands
Lash out loud: doing my lashes makes me feel so girly and cute. It feels good to just casually have cute lashes. I do my own lash clusters (literally $10). I prefer small lashes over dramatic ones, so my longest length is 13. I love clusters because they are so easy to do and easy to remove!
Focus on your brows: I don’t have a lot of brows but I still make an effort to make the, look snatched. Doing brows makes me feel like I have makeup on, because your brows are a very important facial feature. Use a razor or wax and simply clean them up a bit, it totally makes a difference.
Try out waxing: don’t jump me on this butttt, waxing is better than shaving! It lasts much longer and looks much better. Try wax strips or invest in a wax kit at your local beauty store or a market. Wax strips are definitely inexpensive and worth it. I personally go to a professional because I don’t like to do it myself, ouch.
always remember that self care and maintenance doesn’t always have to break the bank! we have to stop paying people money for things we can do ourself. If you want to pay others, go ahead, but my college ppl understand that can’t always be the case xoxo

things i do to feel my best : the code to being your highest self
there are many things that i do on a weekly / monthly basis; or even every now and then to stay feeling feminine, loved, and fulfilled
the physical code
taking care of your physical appearance and health is super important, you must feel good on the outside , but you must be taken care of internally as well!
~exercise:moving my body everyday whether that be weightlifting, pilates, sculpt, or a yoga flow helps me keep my body healthy and maintained. GET UP AND MOVE
~whole foods: imagine finishing a good workout and having some delicious fruit and a meal with veggies, proteins, and all the good things; makes me feel so productive and energized (my Pinterest has a board of easy and healthy meal ideas, gocheckitout :) @thechristinacode )
~get dressed:every day, i put on an outfit that makes me feel beautiful, even if it’s a cute workout set or some matching pjs! putting effort into how you look will make you feel wayyyy better
the mental code
mental and spiritual health are the top , if not most, important factors in a “good” vs. “bad” life. your mind is so extremely powerful that it can be your maker or your breaker, so we must treat it delicately
~I’m weary of the content i consume: if you are consistently absorbing media and music that is negative, degrading, sad, or anger inducing, those traits will show up in your life. I had to put down the true crime, the depressing music, and the bad news.(but stay aware nonetheless;) take a peak at my playlist in my navigation xx
~i start my mornings off slow: getting up and immediately rushing to get ready and picking your phone and scrolling will doom you(trust me I know). my job requires me to awake super early, so I make up for it by going to bed. i try not to procrastinate and save all my tasks for the nighttime, that way i can properly wind down and just rest.
~journal:releasing my feelings and accepting them is the easiest way to let them go. I have multiple journals , and i use them all. don’t think journaling has to be aesthetic or prompted. 9 times out of 10 , I’m writing the first things that come to mind, or I’m writing the exact thought in my head. sometimes i curse and cry, sometimes im writing down some wins in my life.
the lifestyle code
there are certain everyday things that i do to make my overall life feel much better
~hobbymaxxing: I literally pick up any and every hobby. there are so many things to do in this world, whether it be cheap or at a cost, i am never truly “bored”. I’ll do deep dive of my way of hobbymaxxing here
~maintenance: nails, toes, hair, lashes, etc. are what make me feel like myself. i love to be dolled up and eye candy-coded. not even for anyone else, but for myself! when I look good , i feel great. the maintenance code will tell you more
~be active: I love to go out, whether it be with friends, or on a solo date. every month, i give myself princess treatment, because i simply deserve it. there’s no other reason aside from that. period.
I’m not the best with being consistent, but i can tell a big difference when i do take the steps to be my highest self vs. when I don’t. build yourself up piece by piece, you don’t have to pick up all these things at one. the first step is simply trying xoxox
the code to making the most of your semester : advice from a college gal
I’m currently in my second-half of my sophomore year & I have been through the worsttt
Getting an education can be tough & tricky at times, it can leave you feeling disdained, discouraged, and even depressed
here are some things that I do to be my best in the semester
Code 1: use technology to your advantage: most of my work is digital, so in turn I am always working on a computer/ipad
-use google calendar * place all of your assignments/quizzes/tests on your calendar
-try duegooder*it’s a website/app that can organize all of your classes by it’s syllabus (I’m pretty sure it’s not ai)
-use notion* I use notion to plan my entire life! from daily schedules to summer bucket lists, it’s all there
here’s mine!
Code 2:prioritize yourself: your mental and physical health should always be kept up, no matter what
-balance study time and self care time*doing one without the other is a recipe for disaster and depression (I’ve been through it)
-keep up with your hobbies & interests*don’t lose yourself in the semester, keep doing the things that make you feel good!
-stay clean and organized * keeping your space clean will allow you to be able to keep your mind calm and peaceful, your room is a reflection of the mind
-stay out of your bed* get into the habit of only sleeping in your bed, your mind will associate bed with sleep, library with study, etc
Code 3: romanticize everything: live in every aspect of your life
-study in a place with beautiful scenery *changing your view helps you be more productive and creative
-wear a cute outfit to your class * carry yourself in the best way always, even if it’s just to class_I post my outfits on my Pinterest and TikTok!
-treat yourself to a small gift occasionally * give yourself some tender, love , & care when you do something great like pass a final or present in class, you deserve it!
word of advice:
don’t let this semester beat you! you have what it takes, just keep going.
