Just finished puting all my fuck ass books on ebay
ugh I gotta move all my shit from google docs over to word or open office or something but..... I don’t wanna do all that.....
Love your blog, keep up your wonderful work! I hope it hasn't been asked before and I'm wasting your time but I have a question; How do you know if you're otherkin or otherhearted? Thank you, have a nice day!
Thank you.
This is actually something that can be very difficult. We assume it isn’t, but it is.
Knowing whether what you see in another being, or person, is a reflection of who you are, or a reflection of what you are, or a reflection of who you want to be, or a reflection of what you think you are.
To know whether you are something or are similar to something requires you to know yourself, and the other thing.
And we all believe that we know ourselves, until we start taking the long hard looks at who we are, why we are who we are, and why we do what we do.
Truthfully, there is not one thing upon this earth that any of us can be more biased towards than our own selves. We are too close to ourselves, to invested in what we think of ourselves, our habits, our lives, to be able to be remotely objective, and that makes it really really hard to really, truly, know ourselves, honestly and fully.
That is why I put so much emphasis on doubt, on research, on doing the work, whenever someone asks how to know their kintype, or whether they’re otherkin, because the question, at it’s core, is “How do I know myself?”
So, how do you know yourself? Really truly know yourself?
Through self examination, introspection, scepticism, research, meditation, more introspection, etc, etc, etc,.. By asking yourself why you do what you do, and really digging down to try to find an answer, and then challenging that answer, challenging the explanation you give yourself, trying to get past every piece of excuse or lie you tell yourself.
And then when you’re sure you have an answer, an honest answer, ask yourself why that is the answer.
There is no true simple or easy way to tell, and no one can really help you with the work. But we can commiserate, laugh, and find some comfort in the company of others that are also doing the work.
