Random stuff about my character Polarys
Recently Iāve been thinking a lot about Polarys for one reason or another. I decided it would probably be a good idea to write some of this stuff down before I forget lol. None of this is in any particular order of importance and all of it is subject to change, but I hope you enjoy reading about (best girl?) the Windkeeper of the Arctic.
Polarys and her twin sister, Celeste, were born onboard the Constellation, a ship housing a secret and highly illegal genetic engineering laboratory. Both were genetically modified before birth as part of a series of experiments testing the viability of using Windstone to create artificial Windwielders. It is unclear whether these experiments worked or if the Winds chose Polarys and Celeste as hosts.
When the two girls had reached their late teens/early adulthood they were transferred to a cargo vessel and sent to the country of Norwood in the west where they were to be sold to investors. This vessel was intercepted by the Windkeepers as part of their efforts to stop the illegal genetic modification program.
The two girls were found and rescued in the shipās hold by Flux, one of the Windkeepersā boarding party.
Both girls were eventually brought into the Windkeepers and began training with their respective powers.
Polarys is the Windkeeper of the Arctic, which allows her to create snow and ice, along with the ability to summon arctic animals to assist her. Her Windbow allows her to shoot spirit like projections of a variety of animals that can perform special attacks.
A side effect of Polarysā powers is her constant low body temperature. Her skin is cold to the touch and can even have a bluish tinge to it if sheās cold enough. This doesnāt usually bother her, though she typically wears thicker clothing to try and hold in a bit of warmth.
Polarys tends to get sick very easily. If she comes down with a fever she can get much warmer than usual and it affects her quite heavily. Polarys has been known to sneeze snowflakes when sheās sick.
Polarys has begun collecting rocks and minerals during her time with the Windkeepers. She keeps part of her collection on top of her dresser.
Polarys has a habit of falling asleep in odd places and positions. She gets tired easily and can often be found napping wherever she pleases. Thanks to her nine tails she has a built in blanket to curl up in.
Due to various abuses she suffered during her time on the Constellation, Polarys has a natural distrust for men. The majority of the scientists who experimented on her were men, and she avoids men she isnāt familiar with. She is especially distrusting of them when they smile at her directly due to some particularly terrible experiences in her past.
Polarys is easily frightened and often resorts to hiding behind her tails or hugging Celeste when sheās scared.
Flux was the first man (I guess Flux isnāt technically an adult yet but heās pretty close) Polarys really came to trust. He was gentle and kind with her and her sister and made an honest attempt to interact with her following the rescue. She has taken an interest in his technological and mechanical work and the two have formed a special connection.
Polarys enjoys trying on clothes and making outfits. She often seeks out the opinion of Astelle on these outfits, as Astelle considers herself to be the most fashionable Windkeeper by far. Astelle finds Polarysā dressing up to be a bit childish though she gives an honest assessment whenever sheās asked, even if itās somewhat snarky in delivery. Lately Polarys has been showing her outfits to Flux, who has less to say about her clothes but consistently informs her that sheās very beautiful. Itās unclear as to whether Polarys is trying to impress him or not. Astelle thinks Polarys finds Flux cute when heās flustered by female attention.
Due to a lack of a real childhood, Polarys often misses on common social cues and behaviors. She frequently misinterprets them or fails to recognize them entirely. She doesnāt understand how her own behavior could be misunderstood, either, such as sitting hip to hip with Flux, or asking everyone how she looks.
Polarys also seems to suffer from a limited vocabulary. She finds herself asking Flux what the technical sounding words he uses mean quite often. While some would expect this to get old for Flux, whoās known his servos from his solenoids since he was a toddler, he doesnāt seem to mind as heās genuinely glad someone is interested in his work.
Well, thatās all the time I have for now. I should probably get out of bed so I donāt waste my day off. If youāre curious or have any questions please let me know!
