I took a deep dive into the catalogue of Safe Suburban Homes Records (York, England) after listening to a split cassette by Walk Home Drunk and Comité balnéaire. The cassette is being co-released by Hidden Bay Records and Safe Suburban Homes. I'd only mentioned Safe Suburban Homes once...nearly a year ago when discussing the cassette release of R.E. Seraphin's 2nd album.
There's very few vinyl releases on this label, but the first release - a single by The Velts - is not only on vinyl, but it's just really strong. The band apparently has much more music (including a digital release in October 2022) that just "Rollercoaster" and "Rattle The Cage" on their own Bandcamp page. Surprisingly, they are from Malta - we've never posted about a Maltese band.
The two songs on the single recall the work of MGMT ("Congratulations" era), The Cure and Terror of the Deep.
