If you want to enjoy the rewards of being loved (having your boss stop asking why you follow the Packers), you also have to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known (explaining that your favorite character from the 2004 hit cartoon Danny Phantom is obsessed with them).
You ever think it’s weird how in Danny Phantom, the show keeps telling us that Vlad is a super Packers fanatic. He decorates his castle in Green and Gold, he has a whole bunch of football themed stuff... But he never talks about football or watches it. He talks about football in his introductory scene and then never again. Y’know what he does talk about a lot? Chess. He makes Chess analogies all the time. We actually see him play the game in more than one episode.
It’s just strange to me that a person can be so open about being such a super fan of anything, and yet in no way feels at all compelled to talk about said thing ever.
Vlad’s love for the Packers almost seems like he told a lie once about loving football, that lie somehow spun out of control, and now the only way to keep up that lie is to decorate his home wall to wall in football memorabilia. In reality he doesn’t care either way about the team and has just accepted that this is how he must live from now on, burying his adoration of the game he truly loves, Chess.
I’m drawing rn but I just have to say that I personally hear all the characters from Danny Phantom with a Minnesota accent since I was from there. I can’t stop it. I also say “the Pack-airs” for Vlad in the accent.
Ive also had discussions about the show with my dad and when ever I bring up Vlad’s love of the packers he’s starts talking smack about them because he’s a Vikings fan.
My roommate wants to murder me because I do just randomly yell it out in the accent at 2 am.
*The room being quiet with all the lights off*

I got a job recently, and, because of the Green Bay Packers, I have managed to convince my supervisor to watch Danny Phantom.
They took it off of Hulu, and I can’t exactly tell my supervisor to pirate it, so I had to buy the boxed DVD set. No regrets at this point in time.
