#the niners

I’m currently watching the entire seasons of DS9 in one go for the first time in my life. I kind of never got into it before...tried for years. But this time I started with a later season (4) and wow the seasons are so much better than s1-3. I also shifted my interest. For years I was totally into Odo/Nerys and nothing else mattered, but this time I appreciate so many characters: Quark, Nog, Rom, Worf and Jadzia (it broke my heart), Miles and Bashir’s friendship, Garak’s development, Gul Dukat as the great villain he is. It is a fine group of actors and the characters are well written. It’s much deeper than TOS and TNG, more character development and a plot which couldn’t be more complex and multi layered. Maybe I needed to get older to fully appreciate the way DS9 is designed. I’m in the middle of season 7 and I will miss it very much once it’s over.
