The Leafling
"Hey watch that hose you acorn-brain!" My mind is playing tricks on me; I'm seeing things that cannot be. "Hey watch that hose you acorn-brain!" She darts and leaps; but what is she? This heat is driving me insane. "Hey watch that hose you acorn-brain!" My mind is playing tricks on me.
"I only meant to drench the phlox; Apologies, I mean no threat." "You lout! You got me soaking wet." "I only meant to drench the phlox, It's been so hot they've bent their stalks. I didn't see you…" — "Yeah, I bet." "I only meant to drench the phlox; Apologies, I mean no threat."
Her voice sends tingles down my spine; As brashness lilts into a sigh: "Once wet, a Leafling's hair will twine." Her voice sends tingles down my spine; She clacks her tongue: I drop supine. "Well don't just lie there, blow me dry." Her voice sends tingles down my spine As brashness lilts into a sigh.
I chuckle, tangled where I fell, And grin: "You're making quite the scene." She huffs a tinkling silver bell. I chuckle, tangled where I fell, "You're very dainty, I can tell; I've got a handkerchief that's clean." I chuckle, tangled where I fell, And grin: "You're making quite the scene."
That Leafling dressed in pristine white, Like star magnolia she shines. And finally she smiles so bright, That Leafling dressed in pristine white. At last she frees me from my plight; No longer am I trapped in vines. That Leafling dressed in pristine white, Like star magnolia she shines.
Upon a sunny day in June A Leafling tells me of her world: "It's phlox siesta-time, you goon." Upon a sunny day in June I shouldn't make it rain so soon. But now she's spruced; her hair unwhirled Upon a sunny day in June; A Leafling tells me of her world.
