Curvy Collection!
When Mattel first announced the new Barbie body types, I was thrilled to see the curvy one. As of this post, I’m only missing one curvy Barbie (to my knowledge) that has been released in the united States - the Barbie Look metallic mini Black Label one.
So behold, in honor of Shelfie Saturday, my curvy Barbie collection! All dolls in their original clothes, except the two on the end in the back, which are custom ones (and yes, one is in Christmas attire for the holidays lol).
In the absence of Mattel-made outfits, crafters will hand-make patterns for curvy Barbie.
Short article about the new doll bodies that I stumbled upon while googling something completely different. They’re talking about the fact that the new body types don’t fit old/regular Barbie clothes, and interviewing a few etsy doll tailors.
It’s from last year so maybe everybody’s read it already, but I thought it was worth sharing anyway, if only for the novelty of seeing this issue even mentioned outside of collectors circles. Particularly since the difference between the fit of Barbie clothes on different Barbie bodies it’s something Mattel hardly seems to have acknowledged themselves until now. (Let's face it, some Barbie clothes don't even fit right on the doll they were made for, and let's not even talk about the shoes...)

Dress in progress. I’m really liking the way this looks on DaisyPop. The gingham definitely suits her. I love the way this sundress turned out, so you’ll probably be seeing this pattern again. I found some bold pink ribbon in my notions box, and thought I might try my hand at embroidered flowers around the hem. Wish me luck!

Got the petite Ken with freckles at Toys R’ Us after I went to three Target Stores with no Ken to be found.
Word to the wise: the glasses obstruct view so you can’t really check out the screening on the face. There was only one at my store anyways. The glasses were, at least on my Ken too tight and left dents below his freckles. The vintage Ken clothes fit him well, pants are a tiny bit loose. The vintage shoes that don’t fit my Silkstone dolls, fit the petite Ken like a glove.
