Fun fact: Later this year, Mattel is expected to release a 25th anniversary Elle Woods Barbie doll. No word yet on whether she'll have Reese Witherspoon's likeness or a Barbie face sculpt, but it has been said that she will wear the pink leather outfit seen upon arriving at Harvard.

Personally, I think that's a mistake. For one, she wears that outfit for all of five minutes (if even that) in the film, two it'll be that faux leather that flakes/cracks/peels off after a few years, and three they should have gone with the dress featured in these photos - the one she wears when she wins the big case. It's more iconic and it's not leather. For a (rumored) price of $88, I think Mattel messed up. Even if the doll is coming with Bruiser, and especially if she doesn't have the likeness of the actress. That's why people were livid with the Clueless 30th anniversary doll releases - they didn't have the face sculpts of the actresses. I don't care about that considering I didn't even like that movie, but you get my point.

I've been wanting to make a Barbie swimming pool for a while, and this year I just started measuring and cutting cardboard and finally did it. I knew I wanted to have a pool that was deep enough for the dolls to stand up in, unlike official Barbie pools, but I also wanted something study enough to hold floaties like the giant Barbie donut float (that I didn't even use because it's so huge LOL).

The biggest challenge was, of course, the water. Obviously I didn't want to use real water - it didn't bother me as a kid but it does now LOL - so my first thought was to use clear plastic from packaging, which many people have used. The problem was, I didn't have any plastic large enough to fill the space I'd created. So then I thought of clear acrylic, which my husband can cut to size with a laser cutter. That worked! Then came the task of securing the plastic inside the pool - because of course I don't want anything permanent. Hubby found some clear dowels that he cut to size and secured inside the holes cut out of the acrylic (to hold the dolls) to create little stands, and those hold the water up great!

I then swirled Mod Podge all over the acrylic to give the water that ripple/wave effect, then placed it inside the pool. There are four holes in it for dolls, and a floatie can also be placed over one with a doll inside it. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how it looks!

I also knew I had to add a little patio for the dolls to lounge on, and then I found some adorable tropical-colored 1/6 scale drinks on Etsy so everyone has something cold to drink. And don't forget the sunscreen!

So here are a couple of scenes in the pool. Some of the little ones are getting help before going in by themselves, a couple of ladies are sunbathing, and even some splashes are happening. :D

Was there any doubt that this is what I'd be most psyched for?

I was first inspired to do this theme because someone in the Miniverse group I'm in showed that the tequila octopus could also hold the cupcakes, so I made mermaid-inspired cupcakes (just the colors, as I can't sculpt tiny tails lol) and used puff paint and half-beads to create a cake. The cake toppers are Miniverse fish accessories, and they're just sitting there so they're not permanently attached.

Time to enjoy some sweets found in the Easter baskets! Of course there are Peeps. There are always Peeps, both in decorative and edible form, on Easter!

Easter decorations. We have Easter/spring Squishmallows, two wreaths and a porch sign made by me, various bunny figurines, daffodils and other spring blooms, and even Barbie playing on TV.

This iconic series was introduced for the first time on Feb. 27, 1996, in Japan. It began as an anime, then developed into a card game that is still very popular today. Video games continue to come out frequently and the hype is very much alive.

To commemorate this milestone, I knew I had to finally implement a plan I've had in mind for quite some time. I have several Azone dolls (which are fittingly Japanese, especially with their anime style looks) that seem to match different evolutions of Eevee... they just go together so flawlessly that I had to make an entire collage. How fitting that there are eight Eeveelutions and the regular Eevee - nine in today for the nine-block layout! My husband loves Eevee and all the Eeveelutions, and he has all these little figures of them, so here is my contribution.
