Eleanor Boardman (August 19, 1898 – December 12, 1991) was an American film actress of the silent film era. During her career, she appeared in more than 30 films including the classic silent film, The Crowd (1928) directed by her then husband, King Vidor and costarring the magnificent, James Murray. Boardman's performance in this movie is recognized as one of the outstanding performances in American silent films. In 1989, the film was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Boardman retired after filming The Three Cornered Hat (1935).
