scout :( our daycare actually sucks and my heart hurts. iām staying for the dogs and because i know if iām there it wonāt happen but apparently- okay so, we have tennis rackets that are literally only meant to be used to assist in blocking a dog during a fight or blocking at the gate. obviously (or it should be obvious, youāll see why i say that) we arenāt supposed to hit the dogs at all.
there are two staff members related to the owner somehow that actively either backhand dogs or hit them with the racket.
best believe if i EVER see it myself iām scaling a fence and beating someoneās ass, either with my hands or a racket, to give them a taste of their own medicine.
we also have dogs that should NOT be in a daycare setting. my beloved duffy boy has severe sensory overload problems and he clings to humans for safety but when he has to go through the runs to get to the buildings, the dogs freaking out freak him out and he bites. he bit me- not his fault and he didnāt break skin because i knew how to handle it, but he really gets too stressed and we have dogs with no training that we have to correct over and over and then eventually separate because they get so aggressive.
tennis rackets??? ive genuinely never heard of a daycare using aversive tools like that, thatās honestly awful. my daycare uses spray bottles with water in them and it works perfectly fine without hurting the pups or scaring them.
it sounds like youāre working at the kind of daycare i was at before where the primary concern of the owners is packing in as many dogs as possible and less about the overall wellbeing, enjoyment and safety of the pups and employees. godspeed, because working at that place broke my heart.
