So the first one was about amandla's movie about nazi Germany & why people were mad at her for doing it. Maybe it's cultural, but I didn't get it. My 2nd question has to do with fiction writing. Is it unethical to write about a group that's been suffering recently or use them as characters in fiction? I'm trying to write about people becoming mermaids and an example I used is people dying at sea eg Syrian and Libyan refugees. Even if I'm not portraying them negatively, is it still wrong?
I mean there’s a really bad habit [espeically among us non-Jewish people] to make movies like this that center on the Nazis during the time frame [like with love stories, humanizing stories that should be reserved for the victims] and it’s just all sorts of big no.
I don’t think it’s unethical but I do think you need to be wary of how you are writing this. It doesn’t sound like you’ll be delving too much into the oppression these people are facing, if you were I’d say do A LOT of research and really decide if this is your story to tell in the first place.
