A man came through the drive-thru and he ordered two coffees. My co-worker handed one to him and went to make the second coffee. When she came back, he was glaring disgruntled at the drive-thru window holding his coffee.

“I ordered this with two pumps of caramel swirl.” he states.

“Yes, two pumps.” my co-worker replies.

“This isn’t two pumps. It’s too sweet.”

“Well we can remake it for you if you--” my co-worker starts.

A woman came through the drive-thru yesterday and ordered a coffee. About 20 seconds later, she approached the drive-thru window. My co-worker was about to ring her out when the customer states, “Never mind, you guys are too slow.”

Yesterday while I was working, a woman came up to the register and slammed her hands on it, demanding to speak to a manager. The cashier at the time informed me that the woman had just gone through the drive-thru and supposedly given the drive-thru cashier $10.90 to pay for her order of $4.90 in order to get an even six dollars change.

We consulted the receipt the customer refused at the window and it stated that the woman actually gave her a $10, and that the cashier had given her $5.10 back. This woman was arguing over 90 cents.

In all my years of working in a coffee shop, I had never seen this before. As the two customers, a husband and wife, drove up to the window, I noticed that the wife had her hand on her husband’s shoulder. I thought to myself, oh what a loving, affectionate couple. I turned away to process their order and when I turned back around, the couple had begun to make out, rather vigorously. I cleared my throat to get their attention and give them their coffee, to which they turned around straight-faced and took their coffee. I toldl them their sandwich they ordered would be right up, and the husband said thank you, and I turned to make the sandwich. When the sandwich was finally finished, I returned to the window only to find them making out once more just as vigorously as before. The husband pulled away just as I got to the window. He took the sandwich and drove away.

At work, we just got the new VeriFone card-swiping machines which allow customers to swipe their cards themselves and also if they have the chip (those of you who have the chip know what it is) can insert their card and use the chip. However, our machine doesn’t have the chip reader installed yet. This customer comes up to the register and orders his coffee, as he has been for the last week, and asks if we have the chip reader yet. We do not, I tell him, but we should be getting it soon. The customer flips and shouts, “C’mon man! I order my coffee here every f***in’ day. I get f***in’ benefits for the chip, man!”
