The man had jumped up on his feet, readjusting his gun on his shoulder after hearing one of the women in their small group of survivors that there’s no food left. He was tired of always running into rundown markets and grocery stores to collect any salvageable food for their consumptions. Each time, he always risked his life trying to feed empty stomachs and food sources were becoming scarce, almost inexistent at this point. 

At the sound of Sungwoo’s voice, Hyukjae looks up to the man sitting on the branch before jumping down to meet him. At his words, the former dancer nods, wise decision of hiding the food, he thought as he fixes the strap of his gun again over his shoulder. “I’ll tag along, there’s no need for me to stay here other than play zookeeper for the rest of ‘em” he points out with his chin at their small group. Usually, Hyukjae would’ve been the first one to come and help everyone in need, even staying behind to comfort the ones who suffered loss and were grieving about their situation. But now, the man had seen more than enough, tired and bloodshot eyes ready to be kept close and forget about everything if he could. He doesn’t even know if his girlfriend is still alive, his family... they’ve all been separated in their attempt to escape the outbreak. He even had fled the military base where he was serving to find and escape with Chaerin, but it was too late, Seoul had crumbled and he couldn’t find any trace of her.
