knock knock
7. My character walking in on yours making a shady transaction.
Caboose wandered through the blue’s base, his pace somewhat lazy even with a destination in mind. Well, not so much a destination as a person.
He was looking for Tex. An odd thing, really. For nearly any problem he had, he’d go to Church for help, since Church was his best friend in the whole wide world and obviously he was the smartest. But the problem he had was more related to weaponry; after seeing Tex fix Sheila, he was fairly certain she’d know how to handle a jammed gun.
Caboose was entirely oblivious to what the issue with his gun was, but if it was anyone’s guess, it was probably all the crayon dust that had gotten choked up in the barrel. How he found out the thing was jammed was anyone’s guess. It was best not to question the rookie most of the time. Hell if anyone understood what he’d have to say.
Sauntering through the base, Caboose called out for the Freelancer, peeking into rooms and barging into places he probably shouldn’t be. “Tex! Tex? Tex!!”
Finally, turning down a hall where some of the bedroom’s were located, the rookie heard the faint murmur of voices behind a closed door. Tucker’s door, to be precise. And one was definitely female.
With a faint smile on his face, he opened the door without so much as knocking.
"Tex can you—"
He stopped. Furrowed his brow. Likewise, the two soldiers before him had frozen, staring. Both had their hands out towards each other. Tucker held out a few bills of cash. Tex held… well, Caboose wasn’t quite sure. It looked like a little baggy with crushed leaves.
His gaze shifted between the bag and the money, silence creeping heavily between the three. Finally his eyes looked up at the Freelancer and his team member. “What’s that?”
The two shared a look.
"Um—" Tex stuttered, "It’s uh—"
"Tea." Tucker quickly finished. "See Texas here was just providing me with a special brew— I have a caffeine problem."
Caboose’s stare darted to the wad of cash for a second. “That’s a lot of money for tea.”
"It’s exotic," Tex informed without missing a beat.
"Ooooh." That seemed perfectly reasonable to the rookie. He nodded. "Okay." He backed up and shut the door without another word.
