I visited the oldest graveyard in my town yesterday (established in the 1800s) and it was so haunting to see just how overgrown everything was. Very interesting too and provides great inspo for the project I'm working on.

thanatologist replied to your post: something i’d like to do more research on, but...
Victorian interest in medievalism (which skewed it wildly out of recognition with made-up torture devices, new representations of Arthurian legend, etc.) resulted in a lot of over-medievalized restoration projects. I remember visiting the castle in Ghent which lost a certain amount of historical detail thanks to 19th-centurians trying to make it what they thought a medieval castle should look like.
yeah i was going to touch on that, there was def a lot going on with the victorian ideas of the medieval era being both overly romanticized but also what was actually left over from the medieval era often being ignored for not being pretty enough, however i’d say there is a difference there because while a lot of white nationalist groups are also very wrong about the medieval era, the darker parts of it (the crusades and religious intolerance for instance) appeal to them a lot and they don’t try and hide that
I #love my new locker at work. I’m not gonna lie, everyday I have #embalming stuff to do, I feel a little bit like Mr. Rogers... I keep my #embalmingshoes in there so I don’t have to take the nasties home lol..I also keep an embalming textbook 📚 as reference just in case I’m unsure of a course of action. @lettymartiny reminded me I need a mirror and pics of my #besties and maybe a boy band poster!🤣🤣 #chazfabulous🎀💋🎀 #futureembalmer #futurefuneraldirector #scienceissexy #funeral #mortuaryscience #thanatologist (at Avenidas Funeral Chapel)
Do you think I look like an “autumn’s wounded game?” (@thanatologist)
